Championing human rights in small places
About us
Small Places Partnership provides advocacy, guidance, training and support for all adults across England, with a focus on London and the South East.
We work closely with people regardless of mental health, age, mental capacity, physical disability, visual or sensory impairment, or any other disadvantage. Our independent advocates make sure voices, views and wishes are heard and respected.
Some of our projects include working with parents to develop advocacy services, co-producing a toolkit to help parents navigate the family court system and providing specialist therapeutic support to those struggling with unresolved trauma and care leavers.
Advocacy & Support
We provide statutory and community advocacy across England and Wales, ensuring the views and wishes of vulnerable adults are heard, and delivery focused projects to improve the outcomes of different communities. Our commitment to informal support and guidance for all, ensures everyone understand their rights.
Training
We deliver accessible in-person and online training focused on teaching self advocacy skills and upskilling professionals so that people feel empowered to speak up for their rights, and professionals understand the service available to the people they support.
Collaborative working
We emphasise co-production and collaboration with service users, charities and third sector organisations to ensure service improvements and promote systemic change.
Our mission
Our mission is to champion human rights and ensure people voices, views and wishes are heard and respected in decisions and processes that affect their lives in the places people actually live — at home, in hospital, in care settings, in communities.
“Where, after all, do universal human rights begin? In small places, close to home — so close and so small that they cannot be seen on any maps of the world. Yet they are the world of the individual person… Unless these rights have meaning there, they have little meaning anywhere.”
Eleanor Roosevelt
